Winter Program -
Brought to you by Chelsea Heights McDonald's.

Training Saturday's from 12:50 at: Toby Haenen Swim Centre Wells Road Chelsea Heights.

Please arrive at 12.50 to be ready for the first group to start at 1.00, Second group 1:30 for 1:45 start. All need assessment to see what level they are at, and then we will have groups on ability and not ages. 30 mins of swim instruction then 30 mins of water safety.

Just letting all parents know that Toby Haenen has kindly allowed Chelsea SLSC to use their facilities at a very minimal cost, which is a fantastic affiliation to have? The only request
from Toby Haenen is all members have to vacate from the swim centre by no later than 2.45pm. If we are unable to comply with their policy then a large fee will be charged to the club.

Chelsea SLSC is asking all families to avoid using the showers, so we don’t have a build up of people waiting, this will intern allow for the vacate to move smoothly after the program has finish. The club apologies in advance for any inconveniences, however the closeness of the swim centre to the community was too good to refuse, and the club felt it was a small sacrifice to make.

Please don’t forget that it is $5.00 per child to cover the cost of the pool.

Please download the Junior Winter Training Form and hand back to Cate Winnell.

Bridget's Journey

Hi, I’d like to introduce myself, I’m sure most of you
all know me, I’m Bridget Clancy.
Currently I am in year ten at Kilbreda College.

At the end of next year I plan to be involved in a World Challenge, which is a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia for a month. My vision for this experience is to, organise community services in these countries, such as working in an orphanage or helping out land mine amputees and taking a hiking trip through the jungle. This is a journey that would give me a massive life experience. Unfortunatley it is going to cost six and a half thousand dollars and I have only the next eighteen months to raise the money. Sadly only being 15 and a half and on junior wages, it makes it impossible to save that much money. So I ask for your support!
As I am going to be volunteering my time to help with swimming training at the pool I would love all the families going to help me by taking part in my weekly challenge. Attached is the first challenge, which is a colouring competition for all members to get involved in. Each week there will be a
new challenge in the newsletter. To enter a gold coin donation would be appreciated. There will be a prize each week for the winner of each competition. Please bring along your colouring in sheet to the pool starting Saturday 15th of May at 1:15. Each competition prize will be handed out the following week and the winners name will be published in the newsletter.

Thanks for all your ongoing support. Bridget Clancy.

Membership News

Dear member,
I am writing to you as friendly reminder that all Chelsea Longbeach Surf Life Saving Club members over the age of 18 are required to have completed a working with children’s check. This includes Police, Teachers and Public Servants; such members are still required to obtain a working with children’s check.

It is both LSV policy and club policy that all over the age of 18 carry this validation.

Currently only 75% of active members have completed the check.

The current committee has committed to ensuring the safety of all members by requesting any members who have not completed their working with children’s check do so as soon as possible.

The application forms can be collected from any post office.

The reason code/description code for completing the check is 70 and the postal address of the club is –

Chelsea Longbeach Surf Life Saving Club
PO Box 73
Chelsea
VIC 3196

If you have already applied but have not heard back from the justice department or the club regarding your application please contact the justice department information line on 1300 652 879.

It is important for you to note, that as of July 1 st 2010, we will require you to have completed the check as we will be unable to accept your registration for the 2010-11 season. A receipt of lodgement is sufficient proof until the check number is provided.

The committee understands that completing the check is time-consuming process, however, it is LSV policy, and is ultimately for the safety of all members.
